Challenge
Space-gym is a boutique gym concept from Dublin Ireland. Through mutual connections they landed on Pageking for the job of creating a website. They requested an extension of the Space Gym brand, where non-members can book a tour, and existing members can be offered different types of workout classes to sign up to. It was important that the core values of Space Gym got mentioned all while making sure this is an exclusive gym experience you want to be a part of. I noticed straight away there was no solid brand manual available, only a logo and the colour purple they were set on. So now this was also part of the technical design process.
Result
I used my creative freedom to direct the branding part myself, creating a solid ground to start the technical design from. Settling on a bold typeface seemed the perfect fit for the story of Space Gym with statements like; ‘THIS IS SPACE’ and ‘ENERGIZE, CONNECT, BELONG’ this only seemed right. The mostly dark mode design is supported by gentle animations in buttons and soft gradients to add depth, movement, and a calm, pleasant feel to the experience. Whether you’re looking for a specific class or instructor, visitors are guided by helpful tags that show which instructor teaches each class and what type of workout it is. A booking feature was integrated into the website, allowing visitors to schedule a gym tour or sign up for a workout class. The booking system itself is managed externally by a third-party provider based in Ireland. My role focused on designing the interface and ensuring smooth redirects to the external booking platform. I had a lot of fun working on this project as it was my first project from outside of The Netherlands. Getting to present my design in English was something out of my comfort zone, but nothing I could not handle as I was surrounded by the best team. Resulting in a website that perfectly collected the vision of Space-Gym.
